This contemporary mural balances a dramatic kitchen, incorporates the color palette of the house and adds originality.
To the right, a Nantucket basket filled with hydrangeas for a hallway connecting foyer to kitchen. The basket can be seen from almost anywhere in the kitchen and dining area, also from the foyer itself. As my client once said, it’s a great conversation piece.
On the left, hydrangea in front of faux shingles is part of a large mural for the same client.
The client had a cabinet in his kitchen that was built into the backside of the foyer staircase. After it was constructed, he called MaisonArt to see if it could be made more attractive with a decorative finish. MaisonArt painted the flat surface to replicate the built-in cabinet, fooling the eye and giving the piece a completed look.
These murals done in a baby’s nursery were inspired by the classic children’s book Wind in the Willow.
My client requested a mermaid for the ceiling above her Jacuzzi in the master bath. I glazed the ceiling and walls prior to doing the artwork.
The dining room mural of the Charles River was done on canvas in four sections and then applied to the walls by a professional wallcovering installer. On the other side of the wall partition is the real view of the Charles. (Please note that white-ish discolorations were caused by light reflecting off the large mirror lying flat on the dining table.)
I put a yellow strié on the walls of the sunroom and then did a combination of hand made stenciling and free hand painting for the ivy over the windows. The colors for the ivy were pulled from the area rug and are also in the foyer. The idea for the ivy stencil came from the exterior of the home were they have it growing.

This angel mural was done on canvas in my art studio and then installed for the client. (She is an “angel medium” and uses the room to see her clients.)
This view from Nantucket is part of a large mural done in a hallway. The mural covers the entire hall: ceiling and walls and creates an entirely different space. The narrow hall feels expansive and gives much pleasure to all that pass by.
Due to the camera angle, the picture is distorted.
The sitting area off the kitchen was a perfect place to add to the fun and whimsy of this household.
The sky treatment for the walls and ceiling along with the “bean stalk” imagery create a feeling of whimsey and lightness for an other- wise ordinary bathroom.
